Escala Gross Motor Function Measure. Una revisión de la literatura

Resumen

Introducción: la Gross Motor Function Measure, es una escala de medición de la función motora gruesa en niños, principalmente, con parálisis cerebral, creada en 1990, de la cual se cuenta con dos versiones, la inicial de 88 y una posterior de 66 ítems, resultado del posterior análisis de Rasch. Objetivo: describir las propiedades psicométricas de la escala en diferentes poblaciones, al igual que su empleo en la práctica clínica para reconocer cambios en la función motora gruesa ulterior a la intervención o como seguimiento del desarrollo motor del niño. Materiales y Métodos: estudio secundario, basado en una búsqueda sistemática de investigaciones, donde se emplee la escala para la medición de la función motora gruesa, como periodo de referencia se toma desde el año 1991 a 2013, a través de las bases de datos: Ovid, PubMed, PEDro, Medline y Cochrane, identificándose estudios experimentales, cuasi experiméntales, transversales y longitudinales. Conclusiones: en general las investigaciones reportan que la Gross Motor Function Measure, es confiable y cuenta con validez y sensibilidad en sus diferentes versiones, asimismo, que es empleada como estándar para la validez de constructo de otros test que miden la función motora, encontrando en la mayoría correlación. Por último, es frecuente su utilización en el reconocimiento de cambios posterior a una intervención clínica.
